The Story of Bree Tanner Novella

Stephenie Meyer's 'Bree Tanner' will suck you in

USA Today

Twilight fans, meet Bree Tanner. She's a vampire you won't soon forget.

The passing acquaintance we make with Bree in Eclipse, the third novel in Stephenie Meyer's smash-hit teen vampire saga, evolves into an up-close relationship in The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella.

The newbie blood drinker exists on just 10 pages in Eclipse. Thanks to the novella, we get to know her intimately. It's a portrait that reflects Meyer's compassion for a character she says she hated killing.

And the timing of Meyer's novella, which went on sale over the weekend, is no accident: it comes just a few weeks before the release of the movie version of Eclipse on June 30.

Bree dies in Eclipse, but in the novella we see what leads up to her death after a bloody battle between the Cullen family of vampires (which includes the hunky Edward) and the army of newborn vampires who attack them at the bidding of the Cullens' nemesis, the vampire Victoria.
